What to Pack in Your Wedding Detail Box

Make your morning smoother + get magazine-worthy flatlays

Your detail photos set the tone for your wedding gallery — they tell the story of your style, your colors, your personal touches, and all the small things you’ve spent months choosing. The best way to make this part of the morning seamless? A detail box that holds everything your photographer needs for flatlay photos.

Here’s exactly what to include and why each item matters.

1. Invitation Suite

Bring:

  • The invitation

  • RSVP card

  • Envelope with names/addresses

  • Any wax seals, ribbons, stamps

These tie your entire wedding design together and set the aesthetic for your gallery.

2. All Three Rings

Engagement ring + both wedding bands.
Even if you're not wearing your band until later, having all three in the morning means I can photograph them together beautifully.

Bonus tip: Pack a small ring box you love (velvet, acrylic, or heirloom).

3. Jewelry You’re Wearing

Necklace, earrings, bracelet — anything you'll put on later.
These show personality and add sparkle and texture to your flatlays.

4. Shoes

They’re more meaningful than people realize — they’re part of the bride’s aesthetic and look stunning laid flat or hung with the dress.

5. Veil or Hair Accessories

Veils add softness and movement to detail photos (they’re like a built-in styling fabric). Hair pins/combs/crowns are beautiful storytelling pieces too.

6. Groom’s Details

Include:

  • Cufflinks

  • Tie or bowtie

  • Watch

  • Cologne

  • Pocket square

  • Shoes

This balances the gallery and gives the groom his own aesthetic moment.

7. Perfume + Cologne

Scent is part of the memory of the day. The bottle usually photographs beautifully, too.

8. Vow Books

If you’re writing personal vows, include your vow books — they make your flatlays feel intimate and meaningful.

9. Extra Florals

Ask your florist for a few loose blooms, greenery, or petals.
These elevate every detail shot and tie your flatlay into the rest of your wedding design.

10. Bonus Items to Consider

These aren’t required but look beautiful if you have them:

  • A small ceramic or brass jewelry tray

  • Heirlooms (your grandmother’s handkerchief, a family brooch, etc.)

  • Your bouquet if it’s nearby

  • Letters to each other

  • Keepsake coins or charms

  • Your wedding scent candle

Final Tip

Place all your detail items in one shoebox or tote bag and hand it to your photographer when they arrive. This saves time, reduces stress, and ensures nothing meaningful gets forgotten in the chaos of the morning.
